WHEN YOU'RE HURTING
WHEN YOU'RE HURTING
I won't pretend the whole of life is golden. There will be sadness that arrives without warning, failures that feel like the end of the world, choices you wish you could un-make, and the strange ache of watching time slip away faster than you can hold it. These are the hard letters, and I wrote them so that on your darkest day you'd have proof that someone who loves you understood — that the hard parts are survivable, that they often turn out to be the golden years in disguise, and that in the long arc of things, nothing weighs as much as it feels like it does in the moment. Read these on the bad nights. They are the ones I wrote with you most in mind.
